With the right tools in hand, such as Kofax Power PDF, you can compress a PDF to make its size more manageable. Large file sizes aren't always avoidable, such as when you merge PDF files, but they can become more manageable. When hosted online, very large PDFs can cause browsers to struggle or even crash if a user tries to open the file online without downloading it first. PDF files that are very long or contain a large number of high-quality images and other media can quickly balloon in size until using them is impossible to do easily-large files can take more time to open and render in PDF software, for example. Big files are often troublesome to work with, especially as file sizes stretch into the hundreds of megabytes and larger. ![]()

She said that Edge asks for permission to collect diagnostic data that’s used to improve products. “Transmission of device identifiers to backend servers is obviously the most worrisome since it is a strong, enduring identifier of a user device that can be regenerated at will, including by other apps (so allowing linking of data across apps from the same manufacturer) and cannot be easily changed or reset by users,” the paper warned.Ī Microsoft representative provided a response on condition she not be named and the response not be quoted. These identifiers can then be used to track IP addresses over time. ![]() Because Edge and Yandex collect identifiers that are linked to the hardware running the browsers, the data persists across fresh browser installs and can also be used to link various apps running on the same device. Yandex, meanwhile, collected a cryptographic hash of the hardware MAC address and details of visited websites through the autocomplete function, although the latter could be disabled. As Ars reader karinto pointed out in a comment, however, instructions for disabling the feature are here. The researcher said that the Edge autocomplete, which sends details of typed sites to a backend server, can’t be disabled. This identifier can’t easily be changed or deleted. Edge sends the universally unique identifier of a device to a Microsoft server located at .com. These unique strings, which can also link various apps running on the same device, remain the same even after fresh installs of the browsers. Strong, enduring identifiersīoth Edge and Yandex send identifiers that are tied to device hardware, the study found. In addition to the search autocomplete functionality that shares details of web pages visited, both transmit web page information to servers that appear unrelated to search autocomplete. As far as we can tell this behaviour cannot be disabled by users. Edge also sends the hardware UUID of the device to Microsoft and Yandex similarly transmits a hashed hardware identifier to back end servers. ![]() Both send persistent identifiers that can be used to link requests (and associated IP address/location) to backend servers. Microsoft Edge received the lowest privacy rating in a recently published study that compared the user information collected by major browsers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Using only the finest products from signature aromatherapy oils and Organicspa professional spa products, and providing luxurious linens, hot towels, heated tables, and oils - complete with the smells and sounds of a day spa, the Indulge experience will stay with you even after your therapist has left.Ī minimum 90-minute treatment is recommended where possible for your maximum benefit, allowing your therapist to ensure each area of your body receives the attention it requires. ![]() ![]() I'll say the Viper Court is not quite as comfortable as the Ace Pickler, as the Viper Court lacks some of the added paddings in the ankles and tongue that I loved on the Ace Pickler but if I were playing competitively in leagues and tournaments I'd trade this comfort for two key features the Viper Court does really well. I love how sharp the Viper Court looks in all black, and how the silhouette veers from the common thought of pickleball shoes to be chunky and cushioned to the gills. At the top of their lineup is the Viper Court, a performance pickleball shoe trusted by professional pickleball players like Catherine Parenteau and Tyson McGuffin. Skechers pickleball shoes are highly underrated for how well they look and feel on the court. For just under $100, this is a solid deal for what you're getting. The Ace Pickler is a well-balanced, do-it-all shoe you can play in until the cows come home. The comfort of the shoe-namely the supportive arch and cushioned padding around the tongue and ankle-became the final selling point for me to deem these the best pickleball shoes players can buy right now. The performance on this shoe is superb, and the style promises a clean look that's definitely suitable for wearing in country club environments. Now, the rebound of the shoe alone isn't going to make you a better player, but I do believe it helped keep me on my toes more, especially when I would get in a fire-fight against another team. I noticed the Pickler even has a rebound-like effect when making fast-twitch movements, which makes sense because of how close in construction the shoe is to Pro Ace Tennis Shoe-Wilson's top-selling model for tennis. The rubber drag pad has helped protect from holes toe dragging can cause, and the cushioned midsole has kept my high arches comfortable enough to the point I don't have to ever think about how my feet are doing (which is common when I test a shoe that doesn't have good arch support). I've worn this shoe playing for about six months now, logging matches that last up to two hours of consistent back and forth through it all the Pickler has held tough. The Rush Pro Ace Pickleball is designed for court surfaces (indoor and outdoor) and has a 4D Support Chassis for controlled pivot movements and stability. When it comes to the best pickleball shoe money can buy, we're firm on the Wilson Rush Pro Ace Pickler as our top pick due to its high comfort, responsive design, and under-$100 price point. Some of the best pickleball shoes are simply well-made trainers, while other shoes are modified specifically for pickleball. In the past year alone, we've tested over 25 pairs of shoes to see how they respond to pickleball. The team here at MH HQ continually tests all the latest pickleball shoe releases to find the best up-to-date styles for all-day play. It's true your pickleball paddle is the most important piece of equipment you need, but another major area to consider investing in is proper footwear. America's fastest-growing sport (for three consecutive years now) has created a full-on boom train, and due to the fact the sport is friendly to all ages and levels of competition, brands and entrepreneurs are rushing to develop new gear that's suitable for all types of players. IN CASE you haven't heard, pickleball is all the rage right now. ![]() ![]() ![]() The MSPE is the last part of the residency program application that is released nationally for program directors to review by ERAS on Oct. If you are able to write your own characteristics, start by making a concise list of your strongest traits, then sit down and talk with your advisor about which ones to include, says Józia McGowan, DO, who assists in writing MSPEs at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. At other schools, deans will write them for students based on their knowledge of the student. Some schools allow students to write their own noteworthy characteristics for the MSPE, which are usually three bullet points that are unique to the student. In a 2017 study about the differences in words used to describe racial and gender groups in MSPEs, researchers found white applicants were more likely to be described using standout keywords such as “exceptional,” “best,” and “outstanding,” while black applicants were more likely to be described as “competent.” The study examined applicants from 134 MD schools who had applied to Yale School of Medicine residency programs. The recommendation is that if you use adjectives like that, you have to give some reason why and context to justify it,” says John Graneto, DO, AACOM-appointed AAMC MSPE Task Force member. “We all know that not everyone can be excellent. By 2017, however, only 9% of schools used code-word adjectives without explaining them. However, many schools did not provide a school-wide comparison to give context to these code words or explain what it truly meant to be called a “good” student on the MSPE. The recommendations are available here.īefore AAMC’s new recommendations came out in 2016, 24% of schools used an adjective, also known as a code word, such as “good” or “great” to rank students on the MSPE. In June 2020, the AAMC released special recommendations that advised schools on how to address COVID-19’s disruptions to medical education in students’ MSPEs. Also, the new guidelines sought to emphasize student attributes that didn’t quite fit anywhere else in the residency application. Previously, there were inconsistencies among MSPEs when it came to language used, letter format and clarity. The new guidelines attempted to make the MPSE more uniform across institutions. About 90% of student affairs deans surveyed took steps to introduce the new guidelines for the 2018 match. In 2016, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) introduced new recommendations for MSPE letter writers for the first time since 2002. However, it’s up to individual schools to incorporate the new guidelines, and different program directors use the MPSE in different ways. Below, learn more about how this document impacts your residency application. The MSPE has recently been revamped to make it easier for program directors to evaluate students. Its purpose is to give residency program directors an objective summary of a student’s time in med school. The MSPE, also referred to as the dean’s letter, provides a summary of a medical student’s achievements and academic accomplishments. You can expect to have a crafty escape artist on your hands.I have a female Goffin cockatoo that is at least 6 years old. After watching you a few times, they can learn how to open the latch on their cage. These birds are brilliant, which leads them to mischievous, menacing behaviors. ![]() They may be one of the smaller cockatoos, but they have a big bird personality and are quite fun-loving and gregarious. They are playful, curious, and active birds. Goffin’s cockatoos have a reputation for being very social and affectionate. Because of its similar appearance, this little cockatoo is frequently confused with the Cockatoo corella (Cacatua sanguinea). It has yellowish feathers under its wings and tail. Furthermore, unlike other bird species, there is no color variation between male and female. If you do not want your Coffin cockatoo to be overly stressed and anxious, you should start socializing him or her at a very young age, introduce them to new people and other birds, expose them to a variety of situations such as new cages, toys and visits to the veterinarian.Įxcept for the pink or red facial feathers, the Goffin’s cockatoo has all-white plumage. You won’t know for sure how they will get along until the relationship unfolds over time. Goffin Cockatoos and older children will often do fine, but even here it’s a “wait and see” situation. The child could get attacked by the cockatoo’s beak or sharp claws so you should always be on your guard. Never leave cockatoos unattended with babies or small children! Cockatoos can get very jealous of babies and small children. Goffin Cockatoos enjoy playing and will do so all day, but part of their game includes loud calls, which may sometimes escalate into protracted earsplitting shrieks. The disadvantage of keeping a pair is that the noise will be significantly higher. The key reason for pairing is to prevent them from being overly reliant on their keeper and their keeper’s time. They also get along well with another bird their size for company. Each day you will need to spend a good deal of time playing with your cockatoo and sharing affections.Ĭockatoos are best kept in pairs due to their urge to mingle. Keeping a single cockatoo will take serious commitment of time and attention from you for your pet to thrive. ![]() Goffin Cockatoos are constantly active and always up for playing and interacting with a friend. Intelligent and highly inquisitive, coupled with a great need for companionship, shapes the cockatoo behavior. Here are some tips for providing the greatest environment and encouraging healthy cockatoo behavior: A bored cockatoo will frequently develop unpleasant habits such as shouting and feather plucking, which are exceedingly difficult to break. They can rapidly become bored if they do not receive the required attention and interaction. This high socializing requirement has a significant impact on cockatoo behavior. Some species may flock in groups of only 8-10 birds, but others may swarm in flocks of thousands. Because Goffin Cockatoos can develop fatty tumors known as lipomas, they should be fed a less oily diet (sunflower seeds and other oily seeds) than other cockatoos. They eat seeds, nuts, fruits, commercial pellets, and the same nutritional foods that people do. Many birds will spend the majority of their time in a play pen or on a parrot perch. Unless the bird is to be allowed out for extended periods of time, a cage of at least 20″ x 20″ is required. Only get a cockatoo if you have enough of time to devote to it. Cockatoos in general are a very affectionate bird that requires a lot of attention from its owners. It is simple to teach them various tricks. They are one of the more talkative cockatoos. There isn't enough content right now to justify the $20 upgrade, but there's one new feature that may prove the most useful, especially for travelers. The 4K upgrade includes a small selection of shows, but most are over two years old. While competitors include a number of channel upgrade packages, YouTube includes everything for one price, though with one exception explained below. It's best to check the list at the end of this article, which compares individual channels across services, to ensure you're getting the channels you want. Some services, such as FuboTV, lean heavily on sports, while others are increasingly expansive. However, more channels don't necessarily mean more of what you want. YouTube TV's channel selection is excellent, with more from CNET's list of 100 top channels than any other competitor (though Hulu isn't too far behind). ![]() No ($20/month for 4K, unlimited streams, offline DVR downloads) Maybe you still watch a lot of that and maybe the awesome DVR at YouTube TV is enough to keep it going in your mind.Yes (50 hours, 200 hours plus commercial skip for $10/month) But certainly at 65 bucks a month, that is a tough pill to swallow. Okay for me, it wasn't worth it at 50 bucks, but I'm not really a live-TV watcher. The question here is if YouTube TV is still worth it at 65 bucks a month? My answer, nope. Personally, my money is on fading away slowly, but I guess we'll see. The only question in my mind is whether live TV is going to have an epic meltdown and disappear overnight, or whether it will slowly and quietly fade away. "You just had to wait until every Thursday to watch your show?" It's going to be a relic of the past. One day, some kid is going to ask his parents what it was like to have to just wait until Thursday nights to watch their favorite show, to watch Seinfeld or whatever. And even then, I think it will start to lose a lot of its momentum. This isn't going to happen next week, but the day is getting closer and closer when live TV will be a thing of the past except for sports. Well, it turns out that in fact, it's the end of live TV as we know it, or at least as we knew it, no matter how we choose to get it, whether it's through cable or satellite, or now the internet. We're all free, right? We can cut the cord. No more cable, no more satellite, hooray. But here's the thing, we thought that streaming would be the end of traditional TV. Anybody who's been watching the industry for a while will know that this is coming. So here we are, and here is my semi bold prediction. But is the price gap going to be enough to push people back to the OG live streaming service? I'm not sure, but Sling TV could possibly see a resurgence with the other services continually raising their prices because Hulu raised their prices a little while ago. If you don't care about Fox Sports Networks or if you don't need the ESPN stuff, then you can choose the orange or the blue and keep that price down. Because that's the selling point for Sling. You have to think that's just a little bit of a slap in the face of all these other services who keep raising their prices, but Sling TV's been doing it too for a little while.Īnyway, the question here is whether people will be willing to forego a few channels to keep the price low. Now, Sling TV just came out with a promise not to raise their prices through August 2021. ![]() They are sticking with their $40 per package for the orange or the blue, or you can go $55 if you want to get the combo. ![]() |
